THE GLEBOP JAZZ TRIO
We provide generally mellow, accessible jazz consisting of popular standards, jazz standards and originals. We have appeared several times at the Ottawa International Jazz Festival and perform frequently at weddings and corporate and private receptions and parties. After 16 years of regular Sunday evening performances at the Arrow and Loon Pub in Ottawa's Glebe neighbourhood, the Fifth Avenue Court, in which the Arrow and Loon was located, was torn down in 2019 by Minto Developments so we had to find a new venue. That's where the Glebe Central Pub (formerly called the Pints and Quarts Public House) now fits in. Glebop has been performing there monthly since the fall of 2019.
Although we perform most frequently as a trio, according to the demands of the occasion, we add drums, a vocalist and/or additional horns. We regularly perform with many of the National Capital Region's leading jazz singers.
The following testimonials are from couples at whose wedding receptions we have played:
"Thank you so much for the musical accompaniment you gave us. From the moment we arrived at the cocktail hour to our first dance you immediately set us all at ease, playing our emotions of joy and excitement for all to hear. Thank you so much for the gift of music."
“A quick note to say thank you and tell you how much our guests enjoyed your music . . your performance was enjoyed by all. Your jazzy tunes were a perfect fit with the outdoor venue. We’re glad that you were part of our celebration. Thank you.”
“I just wanted to take the opportunity away from our actual wedding day to thank the trio for delighting our guests with your music during the cocktail hour. We have received so much great feedback from our guests regarding this part of the evening. We could not have been happier with our day. Thank you for being a part of it.”
Another testimonial:
“We were thrilled to have Glebop play before our Saturday evening shows at the Classic Theatre Festival in Perth. Their choice of songs, their interpretations, and their cool professionalism made for a wonderful ambience as we prepared audiences for the show. Audience feedback was been overwhelmingly positive. One patron, who does not like jazz, said she was 'surprised and delighted' by Glebop's performance, and made her an instant fan. Thanks again for coming out to Perth!" Matthew Behrens, Classic Theatre Festival
